Acne Treatment Tips

by Posted in Skin .

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting people across the world.

It can be a frustrating and embarrassing problem for a lot of people – but it isn’t something that you just have to live with. By following a few simple steps, you can get your skin on the right way to recovery and create glowing, natural and refreshed skin.

What is Acne?

Acne Vulgaris is caused when hair follicles become blocked with dead skin cells and oil formed from the skin and can cause scaring. The after effects can make an individual feel anxious and reduce self-esteem.  It is said to be caused by mostly genetics, but diet and lifestyle choices such as fatty foods and smoking, can make the effects much worse.

Acne usually effects skin which has more oil glands, such as areas of the face and the upper chest and back. Puberty can bring on an increase of the condition because of an increase in testosterone and androgens.

Acne Solutions

There are many ways to manage Acne, from simply adjusting a lifestyle decision, or cutting out a certain type of food from your diet. Other extreme solutions include antibiotics and medication.

Here at Skin station we offer a wide range of products which can help with the controlling of the condition.  These products work in different ways from anti-inflammatory effects and normalizing skin cells to prevent blockage. Keeping the skin clean and having a clear skin care routine can extremely help with the process of clearing up the skin.

Skin Care for Acne

Using a cleanser on the skin can be a great step to beginning the removal of acne. It can remove excess dirt and oil, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and clean. Certain products contain salicylic acid which separated the bond that makes dead skin cells surface. It allows the skin to exfoliate the cells to leave them naturally healthier with decreased impurities.

Our Obagi Clenziderm MD, daily foaming cleanser can reduce the visible signs of acne within two weeks, preventing even more breakouts and in general helps to keep skin healthy and clean.

Other stronger solutions include pharmaceutical medications such as Tretinoin, which is a form of Retinoic acid. There is evident that it makes the epithelial cells in the hair follicles stick together which leads to fewer blackheads and imperfections. It makes the cells divide faster which causes spots and blackheads to be pushed out. Skin Station offer two types of this cream as a prescription.

Other Handy Tips

-          Wash your face gently, and in circle motions. Do not scrub.

-          Use gentle and none fragranced soaps to wash your face.

-          Wash your acne with your hands, not a washcloth.

-          Don’t treat your spots, treat the whole area (This treats spots that aren’t quite visible yet and are under the skin)

-          Be careful when shaving your face

-          Don’t pick or scratch the area

-          Avoid extreme sunlight or UV Rays.

With a little extra TLC, the right products and some knowledge under your belt you can defeat this skin condition. For more information about how to care for your skin in the right ways, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Skinstation.
