Some of us love them, whilst others loathe them. It doesn’t matter who you are either, no-one is immune. Luckily many scars improve with time, becoming less and less noticeable but it’s not always the case. Scarring can also come about in so many different ways. Accidents, burns, acne, surgery, body piercing and caesarean sections are all common reasons for having one. But the effect that a scar can have on us can be very personal. There’s no doubt that people are divided on the topic and aside from being a focal point, they’re often a talking point too.
To some, they’re simply the epitome of cool. Some of us even go as far to use their scar as the centrepiece of a tattoo! But it’s not for everyone of course. Or you might feel fondly towards a childhood scar, a reminder of a time in your life when you didn’t have a care in the world. For others, there can be much deeper, darker connotations, like a particularly bad episode or a traumatic accident.
The presence of a scar can also cause mental disturbance leading to depression, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress disorder. Other people are not always kind either and with the advent of social media, there are those that pick out other’s weaknesses and think it’s okay to post their opinion, even at the detriment of someone else.
It’s fair to say that at times, scars can make us feel ashamed, along with an urge to cover them up or hide away from the world. When that happens, it’s massively important to attend to our mental health as a priority but there are also scar removers that can improve their physical appearance.
Different Types of Scars
Undeniably, our body is a truly amazing creation. Usually when we’ve suffered a cut, graze, or injury, it immediately gets to work on healing itself by creating scar tissue. This normally creates an atrophic scar, small depressions that lie below the surface of the surrounding skin. There are times though when the body gets it wrong. The result of this is that an excess of scar tissue is created, leading to hypertrophic scars, which are red, raised lesions or keloid scars which extend past the base of the original wound.
Despite the fact that these scars are harmless, they can sometimes be itchy or slightly painful. Not only that, but depending on where they’re located, they may cause a physical deformity or impair movement. Psychological disorders can arise from these issues, particularly when the scar is located on a visible part of the body, or the scar was acquired in a horrific manner.

How Does KELO-COTE® Advanced Formula Scar Gel Work?
This transparent gel can be used to treat new or old scars (up to 4 years old) for the treatment and prevention of abnormal scars, including hypertrophic and keloid scars. It’s suitable for use on anyone, including children or those with sensitive skin.
Once it’s applied, KELO-COTE® Advanced Formula Scar Gel dries within minutes, creating an invisible waterproof and breathable layer that provides 24 hours of protection and treatment. During this time, the silicone regulates moisture levels and collagen production at the site of the scar, creating the optimal healing environment.
It’s this flexible, more breathable layer that gives the scar a flatter, softer appearance, reduces discolouration and makes it less sensitive, painful, or itchy. If it’s a new scar, start treatment as soon as the scar has healed, all scabs have gone, and sutures have been removed. KELO-COTE® Advanced Formula Scar Gel will work to prevent any excessive or abnormal scar formation.
This stuff really works and it’s so effective that plastic surgeons routinely recommend it. Not only that but 80% of patients rated KELO-COTE™ silicone gel's effectiveness as Good/Very Good on a wide range of scars. Don’t take our word for it though. How Long Does KELO-COTE® Advanced Formula Scar Gel Take to Remove Scars?
The recommended minimum treatment time is 60-90 days. It’s also beneficial to continue use if improvement is still seen after the initial 90 days.
Larger or older scars may take longer, and optimal results are achieved when there is still healing taking place (redness, itching, irritation, and continued growth of the scar).
