We know that the secret to ageing beautifully involves being disciplined and taking special care of our bodies and skin from a young age. This is a universal truth and applies to everyone.

 

It certainly also applies to stars and celebrities. Whilst it is true that many of the beautiful people are born with superior genes, don’t be fooled into thinking they have it any easier when it comes to keeping their bodies trim and fit – and their skin youthful forever. Except of course they have an entourage of stylists and fitness experts on duty 24/7 to make sure that they are red carpet ready at all times!

 

Some of the world’s famous celebrities are very happy to share some tips about how to keep skin glowing and beautiful.

 

LIFESTYLE HABITS

 

It will certainly not come as a surprise to know that everybody agrees that certain habits are a no-no. Stay away from cigarettes, excessive alcohol, caffeine and fatty foods. No surprise here.

 

These are some very basic tips. Other bad lifestyle habits such as insufficient sleep can quickly ruin your complexion and make the skin look dry, flaky and tired – or oily and dirty.

 

Water. Drink water – plenty of it

 

Not only will it help to control your appetite; it also aids your skin care routine by keeping the skin hydrated and nourished as opposed to dull, dehydrated and showing signs of premature aging.

 

Watch your Diet too

 

Many celebrities are also putting the spotlight on some of the so-called super-foods to aid lovely skin. These super-foods, which include blueberries, wheatgrass, avocados, salmon and kale to name a few, are highly protective as they contain high levels of antioxidants and are jam-packed with nutrients to help provide your body with the vitamins and minerals you need to thrive, survive and feel great.

Ask Olivia Palermo, American model, businesswoman and entrepreneur. “The secret to great skin is determined by your diet and skincare regime. Keep you body nourished both inside and out. And” she says, “stay out of the sun to protect your skin from damage and early wrinkling”.

 

Another Olivia, Olivia Culpo, well-known model, actress and Miss Universe 2012 also believes in the benefits of a holistic approach to beauty and skin care. She is a great advocate of a proper diet that avoids dairy – also her favourite, ice cream – in order to help control skin breakouts. She further – like so many stars of film and the catwalk – promotes eating more greens as they contain natural vitamins and minerals and only natural sugars, refined sugars we add to our diet being a major culprit when it comes to acne and other skin conditions.

 

DOUBLE CLEANSING

 

Many women do this anyway, while others are starting to take care that they do it properly mornings and at bed time. It simply means that you follow a regimen at night to ensure your skin is absolutely free from any impurities before you apply your moisturiser. The first step is to be 100% sure you have removed all traces of makeup to provide a really clean canvas before you use your regular cleanser which will be followed by whatever serums and moisturisers you apply.

 

Stars who believe in the power of a proper cleanse include Jourdan Dunn, English model and actress. EXFOLIATE

 

One of the best-known supermodels who has retained her youthful skin, Christie Brinkley, believes exfoliation is the answer to much of skin care. She believes starting her skin care by exfoliating every morning is the answer for her. Christie says this has been part of her routine for 40 years and she is living proof that this may very well be where beautiful skin could start when you get up in the morning.
