Remove Makeup


This one should be obvious, but still, a lot of women continue to sleep in their makeup. It doesn’t matter what time you end up going to bed, it’s essential that you remove all the makeup from your face. It’s not just so you don’t wake up with yesterday’s makeup smudged down your face and all over your pillow – it actually causes damage to the health of your skin. It clogs your pores so your skin is unable to breath. It also causes dry skin, red patches on the face and can deepen the appearance of wrinkles. Yikes!

Keep Your Head Elevated

We should be telling you to never drink alcohol or eat any junk food before bed time, as it can dehydrate your skin and leave it looked blotchy and puffy. However, this would be a little redundant – and doesn’t everyone deserve a nice glass of wine after a long week? Therefore, what we are advising is that you keep your head propped up after a night of treating yourself. It drains fluids and prevents that puffy look – genius right?

 Swap Your Pillow

You might feel like the pillow that you’ve been using for a while is nice and comfy but would you feel the same about it if you realised that it’s full of bacteria? All the germs from your face and hair seep onto that same pillow every night and then you put them straight back onto your skin. We suggest that you change your pillow case once a week to keep your skin looking healthy.

Slap on the Moisturiser

The moisturiser that you use at night can be a lot thicker than the one you might use in your morning skin care routine. You should find one that is the best for your skin type, and apply it generously all over your face and neck. If your skin reacts badly to a product, change it straight away. Your pores are open at night and therefore it’s the best time to apply products as they work a lot quicker and more efficiently.
