This summer many of us will be heading off to wild and wonderful destinations. Whether it is for an amazing adventure holiday or a relaxing one by the beach it is extremely important to consider the health of your skin before you go, whilst away and when you return. To ensure that your skin remains healthy whilst on holiday, make sure that you follow this Guide.
Before You Travel
If you are travelling to a destination with a hot climate; do not use skincare products or makeup that makes your skin extra dry or sensitive. Travelling via airplane can dry your skin out because of the constant use of air conditioning. Dry skin is incredibly uncomfortable and not the best way to start your holiday.
Ensure that you pack all of the essential skin care treatments. If you suffer from acne, we recommend Lustre acne treatment; it is portable and effective so that you can continue with your acne treatment whilst on holiday without any hassle at all. Because it is liquid free you can even take it on the plane with you. Make sure that you take care of your skin whilst abroad as it will not only protect you cosmetically but it will also protect your overall health.
When on Holiday
We’ve said it before and we’ve said it again; always wear sun protection and take care to ensure all parts of your body are covered. We would recommend that you stay out of direct sunlight between 12 – 3pm when the sun’s rays are at their strongest. If you do end up with sun burn, ensure that you keep the affected areas covered up as much as possible as severe sun burn can result in blisters and increase the risk of developing skin cancer.
Don’t forget to protect your eyes, wear sun glasses but also use an eye cream to prevent your skin from drying out. Eye cream such as Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Treatment can also prevent common wrinkles such as crow’s feet and is the perfect way to keep the skin around your eyes feeling fresh. Your face is the part of your body that experiences the most sun exposure therefore you should make sure that you protect it. When you’re away it is important to carry on with your skin care routine as salt, sun, wind and water can have negative effects on the health of your skin.
There is no reason that your skincare regime should suffer whilst you’re on holiday and make sure that you enjoy yourself! But don’t forget to drink plenty of water and keep your skin hydrated. If you follow the guidance above your skin will remain wonderfully healthy.
